 KARUTHAKKAR RICE:

Karuthakkar rice is one of the traditional rice varieties of Tamilnadu. Tamil farmers are traditionally rich in their agriculture knowledge, organic farming, and cropping. In total there are more than 10000 varieties of rice in ancient Tamilnadu. But as of now only 63 of the traditional varieties of rice are in use and only 19 of them are well known among the people.

People define this rice as medicinal rice as it has many medicinal properties. This rice variety is ideal for south Indian meals and Biryani which is mainly consumed for lunch. People also use it to prepare idly and dosa.
